Position Summary: 

The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) is seeking an energetic, flexible and highly organized Creative Operations Associate to provide administrative and logistical support to the Creative Operations team and the organization.  

NDWA is the leading national voice for dignity and fairness for domestic workers in the United States. Founded in 2007 by domestic workers and organizers from around the country, NDWA works for the respect, recognition, and inclusion in labor protections of domestic and home care workers across the country. We’re winning improved working conditions while building a powerful movement rooted in the human rights, dignity and equality of domestic workers, home care workers, immigrant women and Black women.

Our national alliance has grown from a founding group of 13 organizations to more than 60 affiliate organizations, plus local chapters developed by NDWA in Atlanta, Durham, Washington DC and New York City, and a robust individual online membership. Internally, during that time we have grown from a staff of 1 to a staff of around 150! 

The Creative Operations Associate will work with the Creative Operations team to update the organization’s internal infrastructure and create systems to sustain and carry the organization’s growth. They will primarily be responsible for 1) performing day to day administrative duties in support of all staff and the Creative Operations team, 2) supporting onsite management of NDWA’s national office located in NYC and 3) supporting the coordination of the Creative Operations team’s projects and initiatives.  

Responsibilities: 
  • Answer the NDWA main phone line and inbox and forward messages to staff
  • Process checks, mail and shipments to/from the NY office, including shipping to staff, members, vendors and affiliates 
  • Make equipment and supply purchases for all offices and staff, complete inventory data entry 
  • Provide logistical and tech support for meetings, events and mobilizations including on-site support for NY events and remote support for organizational virtual events
  • Update organizational tools and resources used by all staff, including how-to guides and tools 
  • Assist with the ongoing record keeping, information management and coordination of the Creative Operations team including maintaining internal team notes, resources and guides
  • Assist the Creative Operations team with tracking initiatives, monitoring progress towards meeting goals and ensuring follow-through on the part of team members
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes for all staff 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

NYC Office Responsibilities (only when office closure ends)

  • Create an organized and welcoming NY office space for guests, members and staff
  • Maintain office inventories, equipment and the office security system
  • Maintain and coordinate NY office conference room bookings
Job Requirements: 
  • This position will require travel to the NYC office in the Financial district twice a month during the pandemic office closure to process the mail. When the office closure ends, must be able to work from the office 5 days/week 
  • Ability to orchestrate the movement of office shipments and packages up to 25 lbs
  • Skill, interest and commitment in doing administrative work, including office operations, communication and information systems, database, and event support
  • Detail oriented, with excellent time and project management skills including the ability to juggle multiple priorities and timelines
  • Skilled proficiency with technology and computer operations and programs, specifically Zoom, Macbooks, Google Suite (Google Calendar, Docs, and Sheets, and Forms) and online cloud storage systems 
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate complex information to a wide audience
  • Demonstrated initiative and follow through on assignments
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Self motivated with a proven ability to work both independently and with a team in a fast-paced, demanding, and rapidly growing organization
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups and populations
  • Agreement and alignment with NDWA’s vision and values
  • Understanding of issues facing low-wage workers, immigrant communities, and other communities of color
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaker and writer preferred
